Upcoming this fall, the Drawing Room Annex will host SANCTUARY - another locals only, open call for art.  The San Francisco Bay Area is home to many ‘Sanctuary Cities’ and has historically been a refuge for many marginalized communities; however, our current political state has fractured the meaning of what sanctuary is and should be. This show considers what our response should be as artists in defining and creating sanctuary.  We encourage artists to explore all possibilities - spatial, spiritual, and political.

All mediums are welcome, and we encourage artists to provide prints and unframed originals for sale in the print rack.

This is an open call, but the number of accepted works will be limited. Although the theme is intentionally broad, we will be carefully curating and only selecting works that advance the theme.

Fee: Sliding scale $5-$25, payable either via Venmo (@drawingroomsf), Zelle (415-666-6731) or check mailed to The Drawing Room Inc., 3701 Sacramento St. Ste 125, SF 94118.   If you would like a donation receipt from our non profit, you can pay here.  Submission fees go directly into our campaign to pay for the space and people it takes to host these exhibitions. Ability to pay has no bearing acceptance into the show.

Please note that The Drawing Room will take a 50% commission on sales of work, so please price your work accordingly.

Submission guidelines:

-All 2D works must arrive ready to install on the wall, with DRings and wire, sawtooth hanger or cleat system. Works not ready to hang will not be accepted due to the short time we have to curate and get the show open to the public. If you need help with this, please reach out directly: renee@drawingroomsf.com

-Multi-media/Video submissions must be compatible as a mp4 video file.

-Works will be on display until the exhibition ends, except in special cases (overseas buyer, etc.).

EXHIBITION DATES:

SANCTUARY is in the process of being rescheduled.  Please stay tuned for updates.
