Community Weaving
Fabric, yarn
83 x 43
2019-2022
Not For Sale
This weaving was created over the course of four years in collaboration with dozens of students, educators, artists, and community members. Our goal was to both involve our community in the creation of a piece of art, as well as represent the diversity of our community through the mixing of colors, textures, and shapes. Our loom traveled to different locations throughout the city with a countless number of contributors. Special mention goes to Nooworks who donated the textile scraps, California Retired Teachers Association who funded the materials, and SFUSD educator Radka Pulliam whose vision inspired this project. AccessSFUSD: The Arc is a community-based program for young adult students with disabilities. We support students to discover their passions, unlock their potential, and become involved members of their communities. The community is our classroom!
