The issue of human impact on the environment is very apparent to artist Emily LaRoche. She sees discarded objects everywhere she looks on the streets of San Francisco; from chip bags to ‘reusable’ bags to clothing to furniture. All this debris abandoned for Recology to manage. LaRoche uses these materials to critique mass consumption and disposal in the western world. Using found objects makes an endless stream of materials for LaRoche to use in collage, sculpture and fashion design work.
