Weaving is a traditional form of craft, and is used typically for practicaly purposes such as placemats, area rugs, baskets, clothing, etc. Weaving paper works that are finished pieces into themselves reflects on the idea of what is finished and what is a raw material. I create my own raw material by printing and embossing paper that then becomes a raw material for a tapestry and new work. I love the cyclicalness of this kind of working and exploration, especially now in a time when technology and AI can reproduce an artists’ work without the artist.
